Anxious Thoughts

Anxiety is intense, excessive, or constant worry about everyday situations.

We begin to feel anxious. Our heartbeat picks up. We start to either breathe too fast, or hold our breath and have shallow breathing. We may even start to sweat and feel very tired. Our bodies go quickly into a state of stress. But stop! What is causing our anxiety? Is it our thoughts? Fear of the unknown? Worrying about a new situation? Worrying about “what-ifs?”

Anxious thoughts are negative thoughts, and they create negative feelings. These bad feelings have a way of hanging on to us and not letting us live our life; they hold us back. Big negative thoughts can grow from one small negative thought. These thoughts may seem to be true to us, but that doesn’t make them the truth.

There are ways to help with anxiety and it starts with our thinking patterns. We must retrain our brain to think positively and to show ourselves our positive thoughts are the right thoughts. The more positive things we focus on, the more nerve pathways are activated in our brain to help impress on us this is correct thinking.

A simple way to start the day off positively is by intentionally thinking about three positive things. It doesn’t matter how simple and silly they are, as long as they are positive and bring us a smile. Training ourselves to think this way helps us focus on the good throughout the day and throughout life. When we approach tasks or situations looking for the good, that it the most likely outcome we will have. We can create positive results by being positive.

New Year New You

With the new year beginning, many are thinking about their new year's resolutions and looking for ways to better themselves. One thing to help you reach your goals during the new year is to form good habits.

When you start building a new habit, it is best to only start with just one thing at a time so you don't get overwhelmed and give up. Make sure your new habit is simple, and can be done daily. Commit a minimum of one month to establish a new habit. Here are some simple tips that have been shared elsewhere, and are very solid. 

1. Remind yourself
2. A routine is not a rut
3. Reward yourself

Creating reminders is a powerful tool to keep yourself working on things. They can be a alarm on your phone or a calendar event to give yourself a small nudge.  You can leave yourself a sticky note with a reminder on your fridge or your bathroom mirror. You can get creative in many ways to remind yourself that you are becoming better and better.

Routine is your friend when you are training yourself to change your thinking and your actions. Since your new behaviors are new, they are not your stuck-in-a-rut, not-thinking-about-it defaults. Think about your new behaviors actively while you are doing them, and they will have a chance to become a deep part of you.

Reward is the benefit you receive from doing the habit. You want to be better in all the ways you promised yourself. Small celebrations along the way can help immensely in keeping you on track. Did you remember today without a reminder to work on your new habit? Celebrate your achievement with something you appreciate - thank yourself. Doing this will help you to keep after the big goal of becoming a better person.

A new habit I am forming is a daily gratitude journal. I started by reading a few articles on what a gratitude journal is, and why people keep them. I decided to start with only writing one thing each day I was grateful for. Gradually, over the weeks, I went from writing about only one thing to writing up to three different things daily for which I was grateful. I write in my gratitude journal while I am eating breakfast.

Hello and welcome to my blog!

I am Gigi, the owner of Gigi’s Fabulous Feet in Chubbuck, Idaho. I am a certified Foot Zone Therapist and Aromatherapist.  I have a passion for herbs, essential oils, balancing the body naturally, and all things natural - from making my own cleaning products to making my own tinctures.

I decided to become a Foot Zone therapist due to an injury to my ankle. I had sprained my ankle and then rolled my foot. No Physician or Chiropractor could bring me relief despite trying for more than six months.  A friend scheduled me an appointment with a Foot Zone Therapist. After a month of her working on me once a week, I could walk without a limp or any pain. It was wonderful, and I was hooked! I soon was studying foot zone therapy myself. I became certified as a Foot Zone therapist in June, 2013.

When my mother was diagnosed with cancer, I used Foot Zone therapy to help her with the side effects that come with Chemo treatments, and it helped her immensely. I have seen many amazing things happen for my clients, and hope to see similar benefits happen with you.
